To You and Your Children:
Examining the Biblical Doctrine of Covenant Succession
Christian fathers are required to have self-control in the way they discipline their children not only because harsh discipline is wrong in itself but also because such behavior ordinarily will show up in their children. Likewise, the dignity and reverence with which children have been disciplined will be seen in them as well. Pastors and elders are to treat their children with the dignity and self-control that should adorn the gospel they profess, and their children are to demonstrate the same kind of dignity and self-control in their own lives. Well-raised children are no accident.
