    Little Bo Peep Cake

    March 1, 2010 by Brandy Vencel

    Well, I am slightly tired! Not only did we host a wonderful fifth birthday party for A. in our home, but Auntie Grace was here for a weekend visit! It was so nice to not only have her at the party, but also to join her over at Kim‘s house for one of our spontaneous college reunions {meaning: we ate junk food and watched the Olympics}.

    In all, a wonderful weekend.

    But for now, I’ll do my regular cake post. My daughter has been insisting for a while that she would like to be a sheep. It took me a while to realize that she did not mean she likes sheep, but that she would actually like to be one. In my efforts to encourage humanness, I was able to persuade her to a Little Bo Peep cake {complete with a flock of cupcake sheep} that she decided turned out “vewy beautiful.”

    {I’m going to miss the baby talk when it’s gone.}

    Here she is, the night before:

    My husband didn’t want me to be up all night, so I taught him how to make the cupcakes, and he made a whole platter:

    Here is one up close:

    In the morning we set up the cake table. I tried to make it appear that the sheep were hiding under Bo Peep’s pedestal, but I’m not positive it worked:

    I’m not that great about birthday decorating other than buying coordinating paper products. However, the children took it upon themselves to color different nursery rhymes characters and we cut them out and hung them around the great room. It was fun.

    The important part, however, is that A. enjoyed her party.
