It’s hard to believe that my little chatter box has turned five. Not long ago she was just a wee babe playing under her blankets. And what a blessing! We’ve had five years of sparkly, little-girl happiness. We’ve had about four years of almost non-stop talking. And we’ve had about three years of almost non-stop questioning.

our New Year’s Eve baby |
The other day I told her, “Wow. You have a lot of questions!” “I know,” she sighed. “I just can’t stop!”
I wish that each year took twice as long. It’s not that I want to make a five-year-old be four, exactly, but that I wish I got to savor each age for twice as long. Truly I feel like everyone is flying around me, growing up in a whirlwind.
I am not in a hurry.

Q.-Age-Five at five months of age |
So here is to many more years of chatter and bubbly laughter and endless questions and lots and lots of happiness. Here is to growing up a little every year {whether Mommy likes it or not}. Here’s to little, compact sisters with lots of energy. Here’s to the best way we ever rang in the New Year.
Happy birthday, Little Q. We love you.
