Circle Time Plans for 2013/14 Term 3

March 22, 2014 by Brandy Vencel

Oh, Circle Time, how I love thee. Seriously. Even when you are not fully accomplished, as in this past term.

Term 2 is always hit and miss for us. We actually did more of it compared with previous years, but still I wish I could say we had done it all. In past year, it has been illness that has tripped us up. This year, we haven’t really been sick, but the construction in our backyard has caused disruption. Circle Time can be humming along fine, when a crew pulls into the yard in their truck and suddenly no one is paying any attention at all.

    It is what it is.

I also sort of stopped midway on Manet because…

    well…

I don’t really like Manet, so it was hard to keep up my motivation.

I am going to try and make up for this in Term 3. It helps that, while I was studying up, I fell madly in love with Thomas Cole. Instead of doing the Hudson River School, we’re focusing entirely upon Cole.

I’ve taken out Pilgrim’s Progress and replaced it with Mary Macleod’s Stories from the Faerie Queene. It, too, is an allegory of the Christian life. I think the two are complimentary, really.

We didn’t quite finish Lady Jane Grey, but when we do, Anselm of Canterbury will be ready for us.

I took out astronomy for a while — we’ll come back to it — and added in some more literature {in the form of Swallows and Amazons}. We do better with more Story this time of year.

So enough reflection…here are the plans!

And here are printables for Thomas Cole study, if you need them:

    Swoon.

    Isn’t Cole amazing?

Anyhow, here’s a list of resources to go with these plans:
