On Your Second Day of Homeschool

August 19, 2014 by Brandy Vencel

Yesterday was our first day of school for the year. Perhaps it was yours, too. Typically, our first days are glowing and wonderful — except for the part where my children fight me about taking photos. That always drives me batty.

But seriously, what’s not to like about going out to get a treat first thing in the morning? That is the only way to kick off a new school year, of course.

Yesterday morning was a little bumpy. Q-Age-Seven had one of her notorious nosebleeds, which set us back about an hour in our schedule. {Good thing we’re learning to be flexible.} And then, naturally, the camera broke.

    To the children’s great delight.

Eventually, we did manage to get things together and leave the house. We borrowed a camera and headed to the park for an attempt at good photos. We read some. We ate sugary things.

    A good day.

Typically, it’s the second day that is full of challenges. All the newness has worn off {already!}, and Sin rears its ugly head.

Last year, I wrote a post about that, and I thought I’d share it again this year, because I needed to read it again, and I thought maybe you did, too.

Here’s to a great third day.
