[dropcap]O[/dropcap]ne result of my ongoing office project {which has kind of stalled due to school planning} is that I found some stuff I’d planned to give away and forgotten about. It happens. At first, I thought it’d be fun to do one big prize, but then I thought it’d be more fun to do three smaller prizes. The upside is that you can enter to win only the things you really want or need. And sorry: you can’t win more than one prize.
I was also feeling badly that my weekend subscribers didn’t really get to participate in last week’s giveaway, unless they happened to stop by midweek. That’s why this giveaway is going to run from today {August 5th} until next week {August 12, 2015}. I’ll choose a winner after that, and I hope to be able to announce the winners in the Friday post next week.
Keep in mind that some of the entries can be done daily, giving you many entry opportunities!
If you win, I contact you by email. If you don’t reply quickly {I will give a deadline in the email}, I select a new winner. Consider yourselves warned. 😉
Giveaway #1: A Taste of Chaucer by Anne Malcolmson
Assigned for Year 7 of AmblesideOnline, this book was demoted to being an “option” not because of its quality {it’s the best one on the list of Chaucer options}, but because it’s out of print and can get quite expensive. So, I found this one at a great price and picked it up to give to one of you — I knew what a fantastic prize it would be!
It’s a used book, of course, but it’s in good condition.

Giveaway #2: Teaching Reading with Bob Books Printable Phonics Lessons
You all know that {1} I love the Bob Books and {2} this is my baby, the culmination of my years of teaching reading and thinking about teaching reading. I released the Set 1 lessons in June, and I plan to release the Set 2 lessons really soon. As in: it should be ready for the prize winner! I’m really excited about that, so I thought I’d give a set away. Enter to win here:
Giveaway #3: Whatever Happened to Justice? by Richard Maybury
This book is one of my notorious accidental prizes: I accidentally bought two copies of this book, and I don’t even know how it happened. Anyhow, we love Maybury’s books, and this one is assigned for AmblesideOnline Year 8. This is another used book, of course. I love used bookstores. Have I mentioned that before?
Enter here to win:
And that’s all for today! I hope you win. 🙂

Great giveaway!
Thank you so much for the opportunity to win! I am new to homeschooling and AO and your blog has been helpful in guiding me on this journey :).
Love your blog, keep the posts coming! If I were to win, I’d love to win Taste of Chaucer. Last year we had to borrow it from the library but by the time my youngest is in Y7 I hope to have our own copy.
Thank you for this website! When I need a pep talk or inspiration I come here. I often feel encouraged, helped and reenergized as I am reading through your info, experiences, and thoughts.
I am most excited about Teaching Reading as my third born DS will be learning to read this year and I KNOW he needs a different approach then my other two.
Thanks for all you do!
Candace
I’d love to win the Chaucer. I used it last year, but had to borrow the lone copy in the entire library system. It’s so rare and it would be great to own it for the other kids.
I would love to win A Taste of Chaucer. We will be using it next year! 🙂
I’ve just recently found your site! I’m super excited/slightly overwhelmed with all your content! You are giving me hours of deep things to think over!
As to the contest- I think the Bob books would be most helpful right now as I have a struggling beginner reader. My first child practically learned to read via osmosis- I just read to her from a baby and before I could blink, she just started reading at 3! She spoiled me.. my soon to be 6 yr old boy on the other hand, is just now figuring out that letters have sounds! Kids are soooo unique! Of course, my first girl (above mentioned reader) would probably LOVE Chaucer!
Thanks again for this fantastic blog! Looking forward to digging in to your fantastic resources!
Welcome to Afterthoughts, Mandy! 🙂
Awesome give away! Would love to win all 3 of them.
Nice raffles! Love your posts! Ü
I’d love to win any of them! I just don’t know if I’m supposed to write a separate comment for each one. I’d especially like either the Chaucer or the Bob Books (two different stages of children!). 🙂
All these prizes look fantastic! Thanks for another great contest!
Would be excited to win either the Maybury or Malcomson books. Thanks for doing this 🙂
What a great idea! I’ve been eyeballing that Chaucer book for a while now . . . . and Maybury wouldn’t hurt my feelings, either 🙂
We need all three! Thanks for the great giveaway!
I would love the Chaucer book because it looks good, and it’s more of a “rare find.” Good to know it was replaced in Ambleside because of cost/availability. Any of the prizes would be fun though. Thanks for the chance!
This is awesome. I can’t decide which one I would want or get more use out of. With a kid in AO 6, both the Chauser and Maybury will be useful but I also have a young child who would read the bob books. So I could go with any of them. 🙂
So exciting though.
Wow, great giveaway! And thanks for leaving it open for an entire week! 🙂
I am most excited about a Taste of Chaucer as we are not far from our first time through AO Year 7.
I would love to get the Chaucer book!
I found your blog earlier this summer when I was looking for more information on homeschooling. It has been a wealth of knowledge keep up the good work!
I actually like all three because I can still use any of it. And, any little bit helps. Thanks!
So excited to win Chaucer!
I am so glad that you posted this. Last week I was at our library book sale and I saw the Chaucer book but passed it up. I went back this week and got it for 50 cents. When I told my hubby the difference he encouraged me to sell it – I said not yet – let’s use it first. So glad you happened to post it.
I would love to win the Chaucer book because I need it for my year 7 student. ; ) It would help out the budget and one last thing for me to have have to take a chance on buying used.
I get so hung up on finding the perfect “how” and then I don’t do the work. So I think getting the Bob Books will help me stick to the how’s and do the do’s. So excited about the giveaways. Thank you.
I would love to win any of these, thanks for holding the giveaway! I’m probably most interested in your Bob book right now because of my children’s ages, but the other two look interesting as well, especially the Chaucer book, and I LOVE awesome used books, too. 🙂
Thank you for this giveaway! I would love to win the printable Bob reading lessons for my two Kindergarteners. And the Maybury book is one I have never seen, although I love his other books. So either one would be terrific!
I’d love to win the Teaching Reading with BOB Books! I have a son that I am struggling to teach to read and this seems like a fun and interesting way for him.
Hmmm. I could really use both the Chaucer book and the Maybury one. I think I’d like Whatever Happened to Justice. Thanks for the contest!
I would love A Taste of Chaucer for our future studies! Thanks for the giveaways.
I’ve been hungry for a little Chaucer lately, so this book would fill my plate nicely!
I’d really love to win the Chaucer book as my oldest is just a year from year 7. But all the prizes are great! Thanks!
I would love to win the Mayberry book. It’s on my list of books to read this year, but I haven’t bought it yet. Penny Candy was very interesting read.
Free books and one is Chaucer, I can’t pass that up. ?
I would be delighted with Chaucer, because it’s tough to find, because the prospect of homeschooling until year 7 is now exciting instead of terrifying, and because I utilized some Chaucer to really through my high school literature teacher for a loop all those years ago.
I would love to win the Chaucer. I’m always jealous when you post your used bookstore finds!
I would love A Taste of Chaucer! Thanks for the give away!
You had me at “free books.” 😉
All of the books look wonderful. However, I am most excited about your “Teaching Reading..” series. After several fails in the teaching reading curriculum department, it’s so exciting to see something simple, but thorough.
In fact, I just sent a sweet friend your way, to check out your learning to read program for her little guy.
Thank you for your wonderful blog. It’s been an invaluable resource.
Would love to win A Taste of Chaucer or the Maybury book! Year 7 is one that we are doing this year.
“Whatever Happened to Justice” is the one that would be most useful to me right now. Also like the Chaucer. We’re well=past the learning to read stage 🙂
I don’t have the Maybury book yet. Just sayin. 😉
I’d love Chaucer!
I REALLY want your Bob Book sets 🙂 We are just getting started with learning to read and these would be a great help.
Thanks for offering these great books; your blog is a wealth of information even without giveaways! The Chaucer sounds great but since my oldest is at the learning to read stage, I’d love to have a copy of TRWBB!
Chaucer first, Maybury second. I love looking for books in Second-hand stores or library bookstores. Thank you for the opportunity and for the AO and Charlotte Mason information!
Chaucer…fat chance, but you’ve got to be in it to win it.
Whatever happened to justice sounds very interesting!
I totally want Chaucer! Thanks for offering the giveaway!
Hey Brandy,
I’ve been looking for Malcolmson’s, Chaucer for years. I’d absolutely LOVE to own it!
Thanks for the opportunity,
Melissa
The chaucer one looks great!!
Also, I wish you would do Instagram instead of Twitter. I know you don’t do photos of your kiddos, but you can have an account and not post a thing. My mom does this and just follows accounts. It just allows you to see the accounts you follow. You do not have to put anything at all on your account, or you could just put the afterthought’s blog link. Basically I’m boo hooing because I’m never gonna do twitter, but I do do Instagram. =)
Well, I will tell you a secret about my Twitter account: it is linked to my FB account, and I very rarely go onto Twitter. Everything there is just a feed from FB for the few people who prefer Twitter. I don’t know anything about Instagram! But I will look into it… 🙂
I’m loving the idea of introducing Chaucer to my chickadees! I’m working on some responses to your classical ed posts. Love your comparasions!
I would love to win the Chaucer!
Fun! I’d love to win A Taste of Chaucer.
Would LOVE the Chaucer!
And the Bob books! (So excited about the Chaucer that I forgot about them!)
I’m teaching a five-year-old to read this year–would love the Bob books curriculum that you have created.
I’d love to win “A Taste of Chaucer” Thanks for being so generous!! 🙂
Thanks for such a great giveaway. They all look great but with a soon to be reader, I must say the reading with bob books looks the best.
I recently scored the Taste of Chaucer book inexpensively to use for our recent discussion on the AO forum. I’d love to have a copy of Maybury, though!
I am interested in both the Chaucer and the Teaching Reading with Bob Books. I guess I am most excited about the TRwBB. 🙂 Because we are using the Bob books right now to learn to read. Thanks for the giveaway.
I’d love the Chaucer. I’m, too, memorized the prologue to Canterbury Tales and I can still say much of it after 35 years (though I’ve no idea what I’m saying.) 🙂
All three please ?
I would enjoy any of these prizes! Thank you!
I am so excited that you found the Chaucer book and are giving it away! I’m really hoping to win that one for me and my kiddos to enjoy.
I would love to win any of the prizes!! However the Teaching Reading with Bob books i could use this year 🙂
A Taste of Chaucer would be my first pick!
This is super exciting. I’d be happy to win any of the prizes, as I have children of different ages that could use them all 🙂
The English major in me says definitely A Taste of Chaucer 🙂 Great contest!
I’d love the Chaucer book, please!
I love the idea of teaching Chaucer to kids.
I’d love to see the Chaucer book. I have two children starting AO7 this year. I’ve been pre-reading the other Chaucer option, and I think we’ll enjoy him! 🙂
It’s a toss up between A Taste of Chaucer and Reading With Bob Books as to which one I would want more. 🙂
Would love to win the Chaucer book as we’ve not covered it yet and will need to in the near future. I’m always excited about your blog posts and giveaways.
I would love to win the Canterbury Tales book or Bob Book lessons!
Would love to win TRWBB!! (Also, I’ve been reading the blog and following on Facebook for several months, but this is the first time I’ve commented on the blog!)
I would like the one on learning to read with the Bob books. But I don’t really need it, I would like to get it for my daughter whose little boy will soon be ready, and I think they would both enjoy it.
Thank you for the contest! I’d love to win a Taste of Chaucer for my girls to read this school year.
Chaucer would be my first choice. Thank you for sponsoring this giveaway.
Chaucer, for sure! It’s one of a few I have not yet found and we have just started Year 7. Plus, I never win anything, so that in itself would be thrilling 😉
Thanks for the chance to win!
Reading Chaucer this year and would love to win A Taste of Chaucer!
Thanks!
Enjoying your posts and now this: a giveaway! My son is starting Y7 and, while we had a copy of A Taste of Chaucer for our daughter (who’s now of to univerisity), after 2 intercontinental moves and several temporary housing settings, we just can’t find it. I’d love to win Malcomson’s book.
Whoo hooo I love giveaways! Hoping to win the Chaucer Book!
We would live to win whatever happened to justice. My oldest will be doing ambleside year 8. This book will looks interesting.
Chaucer for kids!? Definitely worth its weight in gold.
Would love to win the Chaucer book!
I’d love to get my hands on the Chaucer book…so fun!
So, here’s an interesting fact: when I was a freshman in high school, we were required to memorize the prologue to the Canterbury Tales in Middle English. I used to teach high school lit, and my students were always very impressed when I trotted that out! Hopefully my own kids will think it’s cool, too…
Anyways, yay Chaucer!
Wait, with George Grant??
As the President of the California Chapter of the George Grant Fan Club 😉 I am officially intrigued by this question…
Oooh, Chaucer for children! We would love to win that one at our house!
I’d like to win “A Taste of Chaucer” bc I’ve never read him before! Self education so I can educate! 😉
I want the Maybury book!
