Today, we published Episode 1 of The Scholé Sisters Podcast! It’s called Preventing Burnout Through Levity, a concept Mystie first gleaned from Chesterton. At least, I think it was Chesterton that started it all. Last week’s episode was merely introductory — this one is the Real Thing.

If you missed it, I released the first complete volume of Newbie Tuesday on Wednesday. On Tuesday, there was also supposed to be a new issue out — the first issue of 2016, actually, since I don’t publish in January — but I’ve been sick and decided to take the easier route of delaying it a week.

This Week’s Links Collection:
- Donald Trump has flip-flopped so much that Stephen Colbert hosted a Trump vs. Trump debate from Vox.
- I thought this was hilariously funny.
- ‘DOWNTON ABBEY’S MICHELLE DOCKERY & JOHN RHYS-DAVIES STAR IN STUNNING FAITH-BASED DOCUMENTARY from Sonoma Christian Home.
- I’m thrilled about this, but doubt I’ll be able to see it in theaters…
- Stats tampering puts NOAA in hot water from CFact.
- “Why would NOAA issue a non-peer-reviewed report as gospel?” Good question.

This month in 2012:
I was learning to teach a child that was very different from my first child.

In January, I did some long-overdue bathroom organizing. The problem has always been that our cabinets are tall, so I had these huge upper areas of unused space. After spending some time on Pinterest, I came up with some ways we could make much better use of the space. I took photos in case I later needed documentary evidence:
• 1: before shot of 2 • 2: after shot of 1 • 3: before shot of 4 • 4: after shot of 3 • 5: this is from my bathroom and I forgot to take a before shot but let’s just say that after I broke a huge bottle of peppermint oil all over the bathroom floor, I was rethinking how I store my blow dryer and diffuser, and that plastic drawer is my solution • 6: after shot of 7 • 7: before shot of 6 and yes I also cleaned up whatever that is that my children had spilled in the cabinet.
My girls aren’t quite old enough to need it, but I made sure that their cabinet contained a drawer within reach of the toilet for in the future … when they will need to be able to reach supplies. My little guy doesn’t have a whole lot to keep in his drawer, but I think we’ve decided that makes it a great place to keep some of his things that he misplaces in his room {like his shark tooth necklace}. Anyhow, I cannot tell you how nice it is to have all the space issues worked out.

Answering Your Questions:
- Question: Our CM fellowship group is having a Day of Leisure in February as a time to refresh and renew that we might finish the year strong. While the goal is time and space for journaling, reading, painting, handicrafts, etc…we also want to offer some CM encouragement by way of podcasts. Do you have any specific suggestions or recommendations for podcasts that would be both practical and inspirational for mostly new CM educators? My desire is to have them linked and available for download prior to our event.
- Answer: I sure do! First off, I love The Mason Jar podcast. Love! My three favorite episodes are: An Introduction to Charlotte Mason, the interview with Dr. Jack Beckman, and the interview with Katie Hudgins. Your Morning Basket did a fantastic interview with Sonya Shafer called All About Narration. I don’t know for sure that these are exactly what you’re looking for, but they are some of my favorites and I wouldn’t hesitate to share them with someone newer to CM.

I really love listening to the podcast over at a delectable education, they do a wonderful job!
I forgot about that one, Maria! I’ve listened to it a couple times and I agree that they do a good job. 🙂
My son has a shark tooth necklace too!!!! Haha!!!!
Does he get in trouble for trying to stab people with it? Because mine does. 😉
I love the Mason Jar as well!! But I have very limited time to listen to them. Now I need to add Schole Sisters’ podcasts. I’ve got to chose between reading or podcast listening during the blocks of time I do have. Oh the dilemma! But an exciting dilemma to have. =)
I, too, loved the interview with Dr. Beckman! I’ve been meaning to listen to it again–so much good stuff there! He was also interviewed by Allison Burr on her podcast, but you probs knew that. 😉
That’s true Catie — that interview Allison did with Dr. Beckman was also wonderful. I’ve gotten to where I really like Dr. Beckman. 🙂
