Since ancient times, memorization has been a cornerstone of education. Memory work can not only develop the mind, but also the soul. This talk is a brief discussion of educational philosophy and history. In it, I cover the why, what, and how of memory work –I discuss why we memorize, explore principles for choosing what to memorize, and offer some practical tips on how to bring the habit of memorization to your home.
