The Autumn 2021 session is focused on Charlotte Mason’s two ways: the Way of the Will and the Way of the Reason. Our goal in studying Charlotte Mason’s two ways is to improve our understanding of them so that we can use them for ourselves and offer them to our children. If you have longed to look into these two ways, this is a perfect time to do it.

Deep Dive sessions are a way for students who have grasped the Charlotte Mason basics to go deeper!

    Description

Want to plunge deeply into Charlotte Mason’s philosophy? Deep Dive takes you deeper.

For the 2021 Deep Dive session, we’re going to read and think deeply about Charlotte Mason’s two ways: The Way of the Will and The Way of the Reason.

Deep Dive is a six-week program designed at a pace that moves along slowly enough to be meditative and reflective, but quickly enough to cover a respectable amount of ground in six weeks’ time.

Our goal in studying Charlotte Mason’s two ways is to improve our understanding of them so that we can (1) use them for ourselves and (2) offer them to our children.

If you have longed to look into these two ways, this is a perfect time to do it.

    • Adobe or some other PDF viewer

    • A (free) CrowdCast account (this is where we do our Live Q&A sessions)

The dates for the Deep Dive 2021 Session are September 20-November 6, 2021. This includes a one-week break midsession.

What a week of Deep Dive entails:

    • 4 assignments per week: These take many forms. Sometimes reading, sometimes guided journals, sometimes forms designed to help you apply what you learned to your own family, sometimes a combination of all these things and more. Every day is a bit different. The assignments are delivered to you every Saturday evening, giving you time to print them or otherwise prepare to begin on Monday mornings.
    • Regular discussion questions: These are posted inside the Mighty Network. Sometimes, we need to bounce ideas off of others, and that is why you need sign into the Deep Dive network regularly (preferably daily). Participation in these can be very eye-opening as group members share their observations and thoughts on the assignments and ideas.
    • Weekly Live Q&A session: Unless I have some sort of emergency, we do these on CrowdCast on Saturday mornings at 8:00 AM Pacific. The links to attend the Live Q&A sessions will be available inside the network in advance. Replays are always available.

Like anything else, you’ll get more out of it if you put more of yourself into it.

This is for more advanced students.

I used to limit Deep Dive to Charlotte Mason Boot Camp alumni, but these days there is much more available out there for Charlotte Mason newbies. The Deep Dive curriculum assumes that you understand Charlotte Mason’s basic principles. Examples of how you may have gained this understanding:

    • Completing Charlotte Mason Boot Camp
    • Participating in a Start Here group or individual study
    • Reading slowly and thoughtfully through Karen Glass’ book, In Vital Harmony
    • Going to a Charlotte Mason retreat or conference that covered basic principles
    • Reading Charlotte Mason’s volumes on your own

I don’t really care where you gained your understanding; I just don’t want you to feel lost or overwhelmed in Deep Dive. Consider yourself warned. 😉 If you’re super new to Charlotte Mason, I suggest waiting and doing a Boot Camp session first.
